Tripod makes it easy to use Microsoft FrontPage to create and manage Web sites.  However, in order to turn on FrontPage functionality that is enabled by the FrontPage Server Extensions, Tripod has created a utility that you need to run through in order to FrontPage-enable your site.

Here's how I FrontPage-enabled my site:

  1. Go to https://www.tripod.lycos.com/build/enable_frontpage/ and read the instructions for using FrontPage on Tripod.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and press the Yes, do it! button.

You will then see a confirmation page that confirms that the utility has done its work, and that your URL (Web page address) has changed slightly, in that there is no longer a ~ (tilde) before your site name.  So after running this utility, my site address went from https://members.tripod.com/~jakethepuppy to https://members.tripod.com/jakethepuppy.

Next, I wanted to edit my home page using Microsoft Word.
